D.C. Dalgliesh was founded in 1947 by Dixon Colton Dalgliesh and his wife Anne. They set up their first mill in Selkirk, Scotland. In those days, the firm had a "handful of single-width looms (that were) entirely pedal-powered." By 1965 the business had outgrown their original mill, and so they "built a new mill in Selkirk, the same building that (we) still occupy today."
This is one of the company's artisal bridal plaids woven in "Holyrood Tartan." These wedding plaids "are traditionally woven by hand in (our) small but perfectly formed mill in the borders of bonnie Scotland. Each pure spun silk plaid is lovingly warped, woven and knotted by hand by our experienced weaving team in your choice of tartan design."
