Amy Tausk is the founder & owner of Swoon Interiors, a full-service Interior Design firm based in the suburbs of Chicago. In 2017, her team redesigned a family's kitchen along with many of the access points to it.
What you see in the before picture is a view (from the former task desk, which was transformed into that beautiful, blue wet bar) to the basic, walk-in pantry. Elsewhere off the kitchen was a butler's pantry. Amy's team transformed and merged the two pantries by busting through the wall that separated them, creating a single, large and lovely walk-through pantry, that is not only prettier but also conveniently accessible from two sides.
The family didn't like the flow of the original kitchen and was not loving the ornate, somewhat dated details.
Amy's team lightened, brightened and streamlined the look and function of the kitchen and the main rooms that connect to it. For example, she reinvented the task desk as a wet bar (the blue cabinets you see in the "after photo" - see more about that project via first link below) and created two two doors on either side of the range in the main kitchen to create more access points to the kitchen, (see second link below)
