TOMS is the amazing shoe company that gives a pair of shoes to a child in need for every pair that you buy. (They've expanded into glasses now too.) Since they started in 2006, TOMS has given away over 70 million shoes in 70 countries. We love this mission, and TOMS has embraced other key domestic and global issues as well, including common sense gun control, clean water and safer births.
Something not everyone knows (we didn't) is that TOMS gives shoes to children in need that are different from the ones you buy. Oftentimes the school shoes that are donated are studyier, with harder soles, straps, etc that will withstand the local weather and conditions more than the canvas TOMS would likely fare.
Celebrities, like Shaq, were some of the earliest adopters of TOMS, thanks in part because of TOMS Los Angeles roots and a feature in the LA Times in their very early days.
