French Style 5 Bean Soup by Sierra Soups

I am a big fan of Sierra Soups, a line of dried DIY soup packages that you can find in grocery stores in the United States and sometimes on Amazon as well. Based in Fresno, California, Sierra Soups is a family-run business that has been making soup for more than 20 years.

Personally, I like their Fresno Fog Split Pea Soup and this French Style 5 Bean Soup the most. For this batch I made a few edits to the recipe (listed at the bottom below), namely:

+ Adding red and yellow onion

+ Adding a sweet potato and regular potato for more heartiness

- Omitting the Worcestershire sauce

From the package / website -

French Style 5 Bean SHOPPING LIST: 1 - 14.5 oz. can stewed or diced tomatoes 1 medium onion chopped 1/4 cup olive oil 1-2 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce 8 cups water DIRECTIONS: In a large pot, sauté onions, in olive oil. Add soup mix, contents of spice packet, water, Worcestershire sauce and tomatoes; bring the mixture to a boil. Cover and continue to cook for approximately 1 hour, or until beans have reached the desired tenderness. Add more water if necessary. Salt to taste. Makes about 8 - 1 1/2 cup servings.
